The agency's Executive Director Rick Cotton said during a news conference it’s high time for the project to move forward, calling the current building “a poster child for failed legacy infrastructure” that “desperately needs to be replaced.” The Port Authority has pitched plans for the replacement of the 73-year-old terminal since 2016. When three or more of the same color come in contact, they explode, possibly triggering other explosions as part of a chain reaction. To prevent the balls from reaching the skull, the player can eliminate the balls by firing a colored ball from the stone frog idol's mouth towards the chain of balls that will continue to push forward until the player fills the yellow bar, which is when the balls will stop producing off-screen. As soon as one ball reaches the skull, the others follow, the stone frog idol spins around quickly and disappears and the player loses a life. The player can carry two balls at a time and can switch at any time. The objective of Zuma is to eliminate all of the balls rolling around the screen along a given path (the path is clearly visible in all of the levels except for the last level) with other balls before these balls reach the yellow skull structure, which will open to varying degrees as a warning of oncoming balls. In addition to the OS, you will also need 128 MB of RAM, a 500 MHz processor, and a DirectX 7.0 installed in your computer before downloading this game. It is now available on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Originally, Zuma is compatible with older versions of the Windows operating system, namely: Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. The backwards ball pushes the outermost ball back up, while the slow-down ball stalls all the balls so they avoid the golden skull. Also known as power-ups, these are balls that only need to be activated. While pairing balls is the primary way to win, there are special balls that make this process easier. This means a new set of balls will match because you have eliminated all the balls that were blocking them. It will automatically disappear once the game detects a match.īalls can also disappear through a domino effect. Spin its mouth towards the balls so it will form a set of four. My hope is that it provides a roadmap to help fellow designers harness the power of strategic animation and visual communication to create infographics that enlighten, engage, and inspire. This guide represents the best practices I’ve learned on that journey. There have been plenty of lessons along the way.Ĭomplex healthcare processes that left viewers confused when explained statically suddenly clicked once I broke them into stepped animated sequences. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of animating everything from public health PSAs to animated musical data sculptures. That emotional connection and reaction affirmed my instinct that animated infographics could make a difference in how we engage audiences with data. Viewers gasped audibly when hotspots like China bloomed rapidly from green to red. The moment I saw the timeline play out visually, with country dots growing and shrinking dynamically based on real data, I realized the power of animation to turn abstract information into impactful knowledge. We were assigned to present research on global carbon emissions trends, and I decided to turn the dry numbers into an animated map timeline showing emissions data by country over several decades. I still remember the first animated infographic I created back in design school that sparked my passion for this medium. Well, enough history lessons! Now I’ll switch gears a bit and tell you about my entrance into this world. The increasing processing power of computers has enabled complex 3D and virtual reality animations to take infographics to the next level. But these were fairly crude and limited in scope. In the early days of the internet, rudimentary animated gifs were sometimes used to add a sense of motion to infographics. However, animated infographics are a relatively new phenomenon that emerged in the digital age. Static infographics have been around for centuries, with early examples like William Playfair’s economic graphs and Florence Nightingale’s visualizations of disease data. By the end, you’ll have a deep understanding of how to wield animation as a powerful narrative tool to enlighten and inspire. ![]() Also, I remember shortly before the video release (it might have been the day of the video release, or a couple days before, I don't remember), the local news station ran a small blurb about "The offensive lyric in Aladdin, 'Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face,' has been changed to 'Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense.'" And then they mentioned, briefly, what a huge success it had been in theaters and that the video would be out soon. I'm sure of this, too, because I saw it in theaters and, small as I was, all of the controversey over it has made me remember that the lyric was definately there. Basically, the old one features Geenie coming out of his lamp holding a square in which we see Al and Jas on Carpet flying around Agrabah, and the new one just has Al and Jas in the sky on Carpet. Thankfully, the old CD and new one have different cover art, which allows for identification. It is also changed on the semi-recent "remastered" reissue of the soundtrack a couple years ago, though the original 1992 release does have it intact. Presumably, it will also be used in the forthcoming DVD and in all further Aladdin releases from that point on, be they IMAX, theatrical, DVD or otherwise. They brought in Tim Rice to change the lyric in lack of Howard Ashman, and he changed it to "Where it's flat and immense, and the heat is intense," which was used on the VHS, VCD and laserdisc releases from 1993. ![]() ![]() The PC guys at Disney relented however, they were too lazy to pull all of the prints of Aladdin and send them back to the theaters after editing, so it was kept intact for the entirety of its theatrical run. ![]() The original line was "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face," and upon theatrical release, Arabs were angered and offended by it and demanded it be changed. ![]() |
